Book 1

For many years I have woken to a large print of Claude Monet’s garden on my bedroom wall. This famous garden in Giverny, France, had been on my bucket list for many years. It inspired me to write a book set in the garden,  and then visit as a reward for finishing writing. I think I had this backwards and probably should have gone to the garden before I started writing!

Anyway, I did my research and found out as much as I could about the garden. Then a friend sent me a beautiful book called Monet’s Table which was full of photographs of the garden and Monet’s house. I was ready to get to work.

Over a year I wrote book 1 of a trilogy. I called it The Giverny Chronicle. Then I packed my bags and my unedited book and headed for Monet’s Garden. It was even more beautiful than I imagined. I hope you get the chance to go there one day.

The idea for the plot of the book came from thinking about all the wars the world has endured for many centuries. I asked myself what would happen if we had peace?  And how would we get it?

This led me to two brave children, Katie and Henry Tremayne and a quest to save the world. It also included their wise and inspiring father, Michael, who appears in all three books of the trilogy.

When I finished and published The Giverny Chronicle, I started almost straight away on book 2, The Gathering of the Three.

By the time this was finished, I was wondering why I had ever decided to write a trilogy in the first place.

Now I am on the last of the Giverny books and hope to have it to you soon  - with the promise of peace for 1000 years. It is called World on Fire.
